Q: Do any walk behind string trimmers have an electric start?
by Peggy Trost from Iowa on August 24, 2013

A: Peggy,

I am sorry to say that no, there aren't any in our stock, or that I know of being built to date. All of the walk behind trimmers I know are equipped with a recoil, or pull start.
by Joe, Product Expert
Q: Is there nylon covered blade attachments you can buy for this walk behind trimmer to handle the thicker brush instead of using the trimmer line?
by Barry from Minnesota on May 07, 2013

A: Barry - sorry, but none of the walk behind trimmers that we sell can be converted to use a brush blade.
by Joe, Product Expert
Q: Is there a different head that I could put on the model 22" (190cc) that would allow me to cut thicker brush? I have a steel blade on my regular trimmer and would like that feature on a walk behind. Thanks
by Don Bredder from Virginia on March 28, 2013

A: Don - sorry, but none of the walk behind string trimmers that we sell can be outfitted with a different cutting head that would handle thicker vegetation. None of the models that we sell can be outfitted with a brush blade either.

Swisher 22" 190cc Walk-behind String Trimmer
Bought at local buisness still in box. Minor assembly required. Gassed it up, added oil, pulled cord, would not recoil. Also did not come with string guard. Contacted manufacturer and was told I would have to order seperate even though all pictures shows guard. Was also told to take to service center approx. 30 miles for repair. Paid 400 dollars for a piece of equipment I have not been able to use yet.
Cons: Low Quality, Unreliable

Never Again.
Tried everything to keep string from breaking from the mounting loop. Even in 4" grass sometimes only gets 50' before changing the line. Housing fills with clippings causing the belt to vibrate and wear through the plasic housing. Soaking strings or dry strings they just don't last.
Cons: Low Quality, Unreliable

Unhappy Customer
We have this new trim-n-mow sitting in our barn and I'm having to use my old Troy-Bilt mower that's approximately 20 yrs old. This Swisher, we've only been able to use once, it's to hard to start and we can't keep line on it. Plus it's really of poor quality . I've wished many times that I had bought another brand.
Cons: Low Quality, Difficult To Use, We Got It This Spring 2013 And Haven't Been Able To Use It But On, It's To Hard To Start

Swisher Not So Sweeet
There really is nothing I can say good about this trimmer. It is difficult to start even with the low compression engine. It bogs in 2 foot tall orchard grass and when it dies, it floods. It is clumsy on hills and worse yet when pushing up hill, digs into the dirt on the uphill side unless you ignore the directions and lift the front end of the machine. The line itself is fairly short lived and the method of attachment, while relatively easy, is not very secure. With all the problems, an... more
