  1 Question
Q: I am looking to purchase the replacement spools for this Trimmer (21142). Do you carry them? Do you have a part #? This trimmer is a dual line .080 spool. Any info would be appreciated.
by Brian Desmond from Texas on September 11, 2013

A: Brian,

We carry bulk .080" line, but unfortunately we do not carry replacement spools with this line.

You could contact Greenworks at 888-909-6757 to be directed to a location that has them.

If you have any further questions, always feel free to contact me directly at 800-710-7499 Ext. 133.

I'm always happy to help!

It is not often we showcase two products from the same manufacturer in the same category for review, but as you can see, the Greenworks 21142 has earned it.

The Greenworks 21142 leaps ahead of the pack with an unprecedented 18 cutting diameter and a whopping 10 amps of pure power to back it up. The only corded trimmer powerful enough to considered attachment capable.

The Greenworks 21142 has user friendly features like super soft molded grips and handle and quick connecting couplers for... more

Good Product For The Money
Good product for the money. However the instructions for the head removal and line changing is not aligned with the product received. Customer service was very helpful! Online information was also very helpful.

A Great Machine!
First of all, the "bump-feed" head sucks like all of them do no matter what the brand (even Husqvarna) thus the 4 stars rather than 5. So be sure to get a universal quick-change head - Grass Gator, Pivotrim or whichever one you like. I like the 4-line push-n-load made by Shakespeare, it is a little challenging to figure out how to put it on unless you are fairly mechanically inclined (you have to follow their installation instructions for curved shaft trimmers with a little... more

Really Good Electric String Trimmer
I have had nothing but bad experiences with every electric string trimmer that I have ever purchased until this one. They have all been poor quality and ergonomically awful and uncomfortable to use.

This trimmer is by far the best design that I have found.

The design of this trimmer is exactly the same as is found with gas powered trimmers- the motor is at the end of the shaft to balance the cutting head and the shaft is straight, not curved. The overall result is a much better... more

Finally!
Finally someone has an electric string trimmer that acts like a gasoline trimmer. All the ones I have tried to use in the past were so weak it was futile. Maybe our grass is tougher here in S.E. Arizona, but they just did not cut it. (pun intended)

I have two ineffective electric trimmers in the barn that are worthless. This one really works and I am very happy with it. Due to a shoulder injury I can no longer start a gasoline string trimmer. Now I don't see that as a problem.

Thanks for... more

This Trimmer Is A Beast.
I got tired of using battery powered trimmers which would bog down and run out of power, and did not want a gas trimmer. I was amazed at what this trimmer can do. It has plenty of power, easy to operate, and the balance of weight is excellent. I never operated an electric trimmer that performed with this much ease and power. The trimmer is an absolute beast and well worth the money.
Pros: Durable, Light Weight, Exceeded Expectations, I'd Buy It Again
Cons: Bad Instructions

It Doesn't Use .080 Trim Line And Switch Design Not Good
It use .020 trim line not .080 as the vendor says, switch has bad design, it is a double effort to get it works steady and it hurts your hand..
Pros: Easy To Store
Cons: Bad Instructions, Heavy, Difficult To Use, Unreliable

Mario,
Mario,

This particular trimmer does call from .080 trimmer line and if this is not the case, please give us a call and we can discuss further. It could be possible the wrong line was added at the factory, but we would be happy to help in this case.

In terms of the switch design, this is something we can discuss as well if it is causing discomfort. You do have 30 days to return the product and you are within that time frame if you are unhappy with the trimmer. We would be glad to help in any matter you see fit. Our number is below.

Machine That Eats All
The trimmer is made of sound metal and should last me a long time. I think a shoulder strap should come with the trimmer, gets a little heavy after awhile and loves to eat up string. Still the best on the market for an electric trimmer.
Pros: High Quality, Easy To Use, Price, Exceeded Expectations
Cons: Heavy

Sandy's Experience
I have used this extensively since I purchased it. Great power and not too heavy. Only issue is it is too hard to hold down the two buttons top and bottom to keep the unit working. An on and off switch would be great - from my viewpoint. And of course the eternal problem of the advancing the string. But I have an acre and a third and have used this unit for 6 hours in a row and it does the job.
Pros: Fast, Re-design The Idea Of Holding Down The Two Start Buttons - Bad, Design, Design
Cons: Difficult To Use, Holding Buttons Down While Using Is Bad

Flawed But Still The Only Choice.
I went looking for electric trimmers because the vibration of my gas trimmer was a problem for me. The Greenworks 21142 was the largest diameter offered.

It has met my expectation of being as effective as my gas trimmer with less damage to my joints.

However as noted in other reviews, the trigger design is unacceptable. My analysis is that the holding force of both actuators is too stiff.

Some hysteresis would help (resulting in a safe actuation force transitioning to a lower holding... more
Pros: Quiet, Price, Light Weight, Effective
Cons: Difficult To Use, Trigger Design
